Easyjet Complaint number ezy2265
Whilst trying to pay for my latest flight between the UK and mainland Europe, I came across the latest in a string of what I can only refer to as 'easyjet complaints'. I have always used my VISA Electron card to pay for just about everything - in fact, I'm one of the few people who doesn't even own a credit card.
So you can imagine my happiness when I pay for my Easyjet flights and I am exempt from the 'fatcat' VISA credit card charge. In fact there is no charge for VISA Electron.
Until this time, that is.
I received the error code 'ip02itx' - my card number does not seem to match the type specified.
I returned to the previous page and tried again, but the same error message came up. I even went through the entire booking process again, in case I had done something wrong. But still no joy.
I then decided to try the other card types. I tried the VISA debit - no luck, and then I tried the VISA credit card.... I waited.... Your payment has been successful. And at an extra charge of 4.95 pounds sterling. Imagine my disgust.
Now I'm a programmer and I know that things like this are logical mathematical algorithms. There is no luck involved. There is no room for error. It happened that way because the program was told it was happening that way.
I have written to Easyjet to complain about the situtation - both to the technical support and the booking section (just in case one tells me it's not their responsibility and I contact the other). I await a reply.
Does anyone have any more easyjet complaints?

Hi Dave,
same regular shiot happens.
However, neither my Maestro nad Visa Electron are accepted.
And if with Electron I kinda gave a call to the bank and was making a fuss over it, they just plain told me they would not accept a payment to Easyjet (imagine my surpise!) whereas Maestro produced the same type of error..
Yeah, like, a road to go, easyjet!

Hi, I live in Mexico and got the same problem "Sorry, but your payment has been declined [ip02x]".
I can buy with my credit card, but not with my Visa Electron.

"payment has been declined [ip02x]"
I've seen this today when booking a return flight to the UK.
Impossible to benefit from the reduced charge for debit or electron card. No alternative but to pay the rip off 15 EUR (% of the total bill) surcharge for using a credit card.

Hi Dave,
I believe easyjet is not too far from being a scam... I've traveled several times with wife and children on that company, things were... OK.
But today I tried to book for a flight and pay with my visa electron (which is also a french Carte-bleue) and I end up also with a denied payment ip02x. Worse, as I try again I get a message telling me the booking price has risen from more than 10 Euros per seat!!!
After a call to my bank to know if there's something not ok going on with them, they tell me there should be no reason (at least on the bank side) for that payment not to pass through.
Then back to my booking screen (an hour or so later), the seat price has dropped again to the initial price (good). Payment failure again, another try and... that pesky message again saying the booking is now more expensive!!! I could be unlucky, but I tried that same process (booking, payment failure, payment again) several times and the result is ALWAYS the same: the price rises after a unsuccessful payment.
I bet easyjet is playing yo-yo with the prices on any occasion to recover money they lose on low-cost seats. Let me guess... is that way of doing business... legal?
And of course, VISA electron payments (and carte-bleue too) will fail because they don't win any money on these types of transactions. Maybe they have blasted their VISA electron quotas this month since July is very busy part of the year...
I'm off to govolo.com

on 7/9/09 I tried booking from USA with debit visa & regular visa card. ip02x failures. In the interim I got yo yod to a higher booking price. Still no luck booking. I had to call a friend in london & he tried booking it using my cards. No LUCK! He then tried his uk credit card & it worked. Go figure this one out.
Hi,
same trouble today, with my Visa carte bleue : cod ip02x when I tried to change my flight.

Carte Bleue (free of charge): they said that it is not a valid card for Internet transactions - but then why is that card in the menu?
Carte Visa Electron (free of charge): they said that the number was not the right one or that there was another problem.
Conclusion: I bought my flight with Mastercard with a charge of 9,5 €

I have two Visa Electron cards, and guess what, I got the "Payment Failure" for both of the cards.
Those two Visa Electron belong to different banks, and I called both of them .The response was that there isn't a problem with the card or that bank is not able to provide the authorisation but that the problem is that Easyjet is not letting the payment.
I wonder... is there anyone whos Visa Electron wasn't declined ?

I fly with Easyjet several times each year and in the past have had no problems booking online with my Maestro card ... until yesterday when I received a "Payment Failure" message! I tried several times but no joy. At the final attempt I noticed that the price of the outgoing flight had increased so I had lost out due to faults on the website. After several unsuccessful attempts today I contacted EJ on the phone and was able to process my booking ... using the same Maestro card! What is going on Easyjet? ... get your act together please!
